Caesars Entertainment and Caesars Sportsbook Louisiana have announced that a new World Series of Poker (WSOP) poker room and sportsbook will open this fall at Harrah’s New Orleans, the lone brick-and-mortar casino in the city.
After securing a 30-year extension of its gaming license, Caesars agreed to invest $325 million into the property to build a new hotel and rebrand it as Caesars New Orleans. The resort will also have a sportsbook operated by Caesars and a WSOP poker room.
With the announcement, Caesars is increasing its already considerable presence in the state. Last year, the gaming giant secured the naming rights to the Superdome, which is the home of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, and already has partnerships with the New Orleans Pelicans and Louisiana State University.
Poker Room Will Be Largest In The State
The new WSOP poker room is adjacent to the sportsbook and will be the biggest in Louisiana at 5,000 square feet. In addition, it will have more than 20 tables which will feature beverage service for all real money poker players.
In a press release, General Manager of Harrah’s New Orleans Samir Mowad stated: “The World Series of Poker brand represents the ultimate poker experience, and it’s only fitting we open a poker room that matches its legacy. We’ll accomplish this by providing a best-in-class place for players to enjoy our games while generating a competitive buzz that builds camaraderie and creates a thrilling sense of victory for our winners.”
The poker room will offer customers several variants of the game and will host high-stakes tournaments on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. The hours of operation will be 10 AM to 4 AM Sunday to Thursday, and 10 AM to 6 AM. Friday and Saturday.
About the Sportsbook
Caesars describes the new sportsbook as a 5,700-square-foot facility with 12 betting kiosks and four betting windows. In addition, it will feature a 147-foot video screen with a state-of-the-art audio system.
The facility will seat 140 customers with 14 deluxe video screens, so players have the best experience of watching and betting on their favorite games. It will also have a Fan Cave that offers private viewing for up to ten people and a large bar that will serve up to 28 patrons.
Caesars Entertainment Regional President Dan Real said: “Caesars Sportsbook at Harrah’s New Orleans will be the foremost sports betting and viewing destination in the southern United States. This first-class sportsbook will offer an unmatched game-day experience for Louisiana’s passionate sports fans and our many visitors to the area.”
Caesars officials said in the press release that these two new openings will allow fans to see and wager on their favorite sports in a “luxurious environment worthy of a Caesar.”
Besides these two new projects, Caesars is investing further in the state and is rebuilding the Lake Charles Resort, which will soon reopen under its new name, Horseshoe Lake Charles. The company is also in the process of building a new retail sportsbook at Horseshoe Bossier City.
