Players that were victimized by the Absolute Poker and UltimateBet scams have another 90 days to file a claim. The Garden City Group quietly extended the deadline to file a claim at Absolutepokerclaims.com until September 7, 2017. The original deadline was June 9, 2017.
The claims administrator, Garden City Group, did not make any announcement about why the deadline was moved back 90 days. This will likely move payments back 90 days. It is unclear at this time what percentage of the balances will be paid by the claims administrator. It is possible that this depends on the number of players that file claims and how the amount compares to money held from Black Friday payments.
Garden City Group also handled claims for Full Tilt Poker. Most of those payments were processed in late 2016 and early 2017.
Absolute Poker Co-founder Pleads Guilty
While Absolute Poker and UltimateBet may get paid sometime in 2018, the leader in the online poker cheating scandal at Absolute Poker is nearing the end of his Black Friday related case. Scott Tom, a co-founder of Absolute Poker, is widely believed to have been the man behind the account that used software to see opponents’ hole cards. He returned to the United States to answer Black Friday charges earlier this year. He pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor in late May. The court documents reporting this were filed this week.
Tom’s sentencing will be announced in September. In the meantime, he is under house arrest in Las Vegas. In addition to possible prison time, Tom is expected to forfeit some funds related to his days of operating Absolute Poker, one of the biggest scam poker sites in history.
