Happy New Year to all the poker fans out there who enjoy the most popular card game in the world! The poker is slowly taking over the world and it seems that there would be a lot of beautiful things happening to this game, especially in some of the countries that previously had a negative opinion about it. We finish this year’s poker news with the single most successful poker story that took everyone by surprise – the story of Justin Bonomo. At the moment, Bonomo broke all possible records in poker and is currently the leader on the all-time money list. His upright swing and legendary status all happened within the period of one year. Bonomo was not the most successful poker player of 2018, he is officially the most successful poker player ever! It all started for him after finishing a runner-up in the PCA $100,000. He managed to lose the first prize to Cary Katz but earned $1,077,800 nevertheless. Not long has passed before Bonomo managed to land two titles – $25,500 No Limit Hold’em High Roller which was a part of Lucky Hearts Poker Open where he won a total of $556,873, and the US Poker Open $10,000 No Limit Hold’em where he won $190,400.
To some, this is the most they have ever earned playing poker, and to others is sum they will never be able to earn. For Bonomo, this was just the beginning. He went on and won a Super High Roller Bowl in Macau, earning a total of $4.8 million. In other words, Bonomo managed to earn $5.5 million up to that point. After earning six cashes from WSOP events in Europe, Bonomo set his goal to win a WSOP in Vegas. First of all, he took part in a $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl before the WSOP and beat Negreanu to the title, with another $5 million going to his bank account. In other words, he went to the WSOP event with $13 million won from the beginning of 2018.
After a couple of other cashing-outs, Bonomo took some time off to prepare for The Big One for One Drop! This is the highlight of 2018 and his poker career in general as he managed to win a total of $10,000,000, having beaten Fedor Holz in the heads-up play. At that point, everyone knew that Bonomo is something we will not see in a long time. He is a true poker master who knows his card better than anything in the world, and the game of poker really seems to be his natural talent. In the end, Bonomo ended the year with a total of $25,428,935 in his live tournament cashes. This is an unreal number. Something that every poker player dreams of! We all need to thank Bonomo for such an amazing year and the inspiration he gave to many poker players who are just starting out! Never give up, do your best, and play with your heart and your mind alike!
