David Coleman Off to Huge Start in 2024 Image

The calendar flipped to 2024 just two weeks ago, but it is already looking like it will be a historic year for poker player David Coleman. The action in the poker tournament never seems to stop, and Coleman has been very active so far to begin the year.

Coleman is a 30-year-old poker player from New Jersey, and he is someone who hasn’t had a ton of success playing online poker up to this point. In fact, Coleman hadn’t won a live tournament throughout his career, but he has already accomplished that feat three times so far in 2024.

Most of his success has come in the PokerGO Tour Kickoff Series, as he recently picked up two wins at the same festival. He has been able to have a ton of success at no limit hold-em tournaments, as that was the style in which he won both of his recent events.

His most impressive tournament win in 2024 came at the Card Player Poker Tour Venetian main event that came with a buy-in of $1,600. Coleman was able to come away with a prize of more than $115,000 at that event, and he beat out 457 other entries to get that done.

Coleman is a name that is known on the live poker scene, but he just hadn’t been able to have much success until late. With so much time remaining in 2024, he could end up topping the list of biggest winners this year.

Coming Up Clutch

There is definitely some luck involved when it comes to winning poker tournaments, but Coleman has continued to come up with clutch play when it matters most. His third event of the year saw him finish as the runner-up, but he has been getting the job done the rest of the year.

In the most recent win, Coleman also had to deal with some of the best players in the industry to come away with a victory. Coleman was able to defeat Viktor Ustimov in a heads-up play in order to win the title, and Ustimov has over $3.1 million in career winnings.

Flying under the radar has helped Coleman a bit up to this point, but he is no longer going to have that luxury. He is now on top of the leaderboard in the PGT standings, and everyone is going to be coming after him.

Two Other Early Winners

Coleman isn’t the only player that has had some success early on in 2024 as the PokerGO Tour has hosted several big events already. Justin Young and Dylan Weisman have also gotten massive prizes from this tour, and those are names that are recognizable in the live poker events.

In one of the events in which Coleman took fifth place, it was Dylan Weisman who came away with the big victory. Young was the winner in the third event in the series, and that gave him enough points to sit in third place in the standings.
