The partypoker MILLIONS Online event finished up this week, with the tournament ending up being the largest in the history of the brand. The tournament already offered up $5 million in guaranteed prize money with first place set to take home $1 million. With a buy-in of $5,300 and 1,047 players competing, the total prize money up for grabs reached $5,135,000, the most ever on offer during a partypoker event. In the end, it was Jonathan Van Fleet who earned the first-place win, taking home just over $1m for his efforts.
The poker tournament had a deep structure that included four starting flights with two additional days of competition. Players were given 1 million in starting chips with blinds set to increase every 30 minutes, aside from the last two opening flights, which had a faster blind structure.
As the tournament progressed, Day 3 would see 25 players returning to the felt with 17 remaining after the first break. It would not be long before the final table would be set with 8 players remaining, with each set to take home at least a five-figure payday.
Van Fleet Prevails
In the end, it would be Van Fleet up against a player known as N0-IPTRI4I2I. When heads-up play began, Van Fleet would hold a 3 to 2 chip lead. The pro would slowly grind down N0-IPTRI4I2I’s chip stack until the final hand took place. On the final hand, N0-IPTRI4I2I would open from the button and Van Fleet would call. The King-Jack of N0-IPTRI4I2I was not enough to beat the Ace-Queen of Van Fleet, and the poker pro would claim his first ever seven-figure cash out with the tournament win.
