Cody Bartlett’s Journey to Victory
Some of the players who cashed despite missing a seat at the final table were Ben Ludlow, David Hengen, Terence Reid, Angela Jordison, Keerat Bawa, Derrick Plumage, Blair Hinkle, Joshua Kopp, and Andre Allen. Ashley Frank used ace-eight suited to stake her remaining chips against Bartlett’s ace-jack. Unfortunately, she lost and finished 10th setting up a nine-handed final table.
Gabe Neighbors, the day’s stack leader, used ace-ten to move all-in facing David Gallimore’s pocket fours. The former’s run ended in ninth place with $6,329 after their card lost. Jason Crews finished eighth after his king-ten suited lost to Bartlett’s ace-three offsuit.
The latter made a bottom pair flop and the former turned another pair. Robbie Kent exited the tournament in the seventh position after his ace-queen lost a pot to Ted Forshey’s ace-jack.
A jack-high flop occurred and earned Forshey a pot. Gallimore became the table’s short stack when Forshey beat him for a flop. The former used ten-nine off to move his stack before Bartlett used king-jack to call him in the big blind.
Bartlett made a straight flop that sent Gallimore packing in sixth place with $12,701. Scott Buller followed Gallimore in the fifth position despite winning a recent Omaha 8 event.
He used queen-ten to face Forshey’s pocket threes in a three-bet pot. But, the ten-high flop had a three, and the money went in as Buller drew dead. Forshey won the pot and eliminated Buller.
Joel Brown and James Girouard were the short stacks in four-handed action. The latter used nine-seven suited to move his stack against Forshey’s pocket queens, which dominated and busted him in fourth place.
Bartlett clashed with Brown after several minutes using ace-two suited against king-six off. But, the ace-high helped Bartlett double up and reduced Brown’s chips. Bartlett and Forshey used ace-seven to dominate Brown’s queen-nine and collect his chips before eliminating him in third place with $28,537.
Bartlett overtook Forshey to get the chip lead in their battle of the blinds. The latter used jack-four suited to face the former’s jacks in a three-bet. But Bartlett eliminated Forshey in second place with $44,377.
