RunGood Poker Series Joshua Kopp

The Horseshoe Casino recently hosted the $700 RunGood Poker Series Checkpoint Main Event, which attracted 605 entrants. They created a $363,000 prize pool that the top 74 participants shared.

Joshua Kopp won the tournament and took home $68,799. He stated after his victory that it was surreal.

The Final Table’s Payouts

  1. Joshua Kopp – $68,799
  2. David Caron – $48,232
  3. Renato Spahiu – $31,015
  4. Matt Morfitt – $22,147
  5. Terry Williams – $16,999
  6. Nick Stille – $13,957
  7. Matt Donaldson – $11,503

How Things Unfolded on the Last Day

Several players who cashed but missed a seat at the final table included Kevin Berthelsen, Mark Homan, Jared Ward, Dakotah O’Dell, and Caitlin Comiskey. Michael Brewer got busted in 10th place, and the remaining players set the final table.Joshua Coop RunGood Poker Series

Jared Langbehn reached the table being the short stack. He put his last four big blinds over Nick Stille’s raise, but Renato Spahiu made a big blind isolation. Langbehn’s jack-ten lost to Spahiu’s queen jack, and he left the table in ninth place.

Angela Jordison followed Langbehn in eighth place after attempting to protect her big blind against Joshua Kopp’s open from under the gun. Matt Donaldson got busted in the seventh position in the next level after Matt Morfitt won a big pot.

The former used pocket nines to move all in, and Spahiu held ace-queen. But, an ace-high board ended Donaldson’s run.

Stille made a four-bet shove using a king-queen of clubs on a nine-high two-clubs board, and Spahiu used nine-eight to call for the top pair. The former got the stack lead from a turn queen of diamonds as they held the top pair. Yet, Spahiu took the lead from the river eight with two pair and sent Stille packing in sixth place.

Terry Williams finished fifth after moving his last chips on the button using the king-queen of clubs. Yet, Kopp flopped a set and used pocket sixes to call. Williams missed the river club despite a flush draw appearing on the turn and exited the event.

Morfitt had many beats despite starting the day as the stack leader. His stack was further reduced after a river queen earned David Caron more chips. Morfitt used ace-three to move all in against Caron’s pocket fours.

Unfortunately, the former exited the tournament in fourth place, setting up a three-handed match between Kopp, Spahiu, and Caron, who doubled up through his opponents. Spahiu’s ace-ten lost to Kopp’s king-four, and his run ended in the third position.

Kopp and Caron clashed in a tough heads-up battle. The latter had a chip advantage, but the former’s pocket queens earned him a crucial pot.

Caron used pocket sixes to stake his last chips against Kopp’s nine-ten suited. But the latter got the flush from an all-diamond flop, and the former finished second with $48,232.
