The Horseshoe Casino and Hotel hosted the latest $600 RunGood Poker Series Main Event. It attracted 718 players and had a $373,360 prize pool. However, only the leading 88 players cashed out.
Loi Hoang was among the final table qualifiers, and he proved his expertise in the game when he beat all his opponents to win the $55,394 top prize. This was his first RGPS Main Event victory, and he had previously reached the final tables of four side tournaments.
After the tournament, Hoang said he believed he played a unique game without rushing to pick cards, and luck was on his side. He was elated to receive the prize after outperforming talented players like Tiffany Keathley, Chris Moneymaker, Matthew Higgins, and Shannon Hamblen. Besides, Hoang is the first RGPS Main Event winner on the tour’s ongoing The Road Trip leg.

How The Final Day Turned Out
Only 88 players advanced to the final day, and its action was fast-paced. Brian “TheGoldenBlazer” Frenzel got busted in the 85th position with $1,008. But he later played in another tournament that he won, leading in the all-time RGPS ring list with the second-highest number of titles.
Other players who left the tournament early were Emily Berglund, Kyle Cartwright, Kevin Broadway, Trace Henderson, Mark Davis, Joey Gargiulo, and Forrest Kollar.
David Lee finished 10th and set a nine-handed final table after Matthew Higgin’s pocket nines beat his pocket sixes. The former’s exit earned the latter more chips and improved his position on the leaderboard to second place.
Wayne Newcomb was the stack leader when the final table was set. However, Chris Moneymaker collected some of Newcomb’s chips, hence making him drop his chip position to third place. Dawson Darbouze didn’t get help, and he was the first finalist to exit the table in ninth place with $6,683.
Shannon Hamblen almost eliminated a player when Stuart Breakstone’s ace-queen clashed with his ace-king. However, Breakstone won the pot after a rivered straight and Hamblen’s stack reduced. The latter’s run ended in eighth place with $8,475 after his queen-ten lost to Moneymaker’s ace-four.
Tiffany Keathley left the table in seventh place after Higgins’ seven-six suited beat her ace-eight suited. Rebekah Crosby followed Keathley in sixth place with $14,076 when Moneymaker’s ace-six offsuit defeated her five-three suited. Hoang busted Breakstone in fifth place and later sent Moneymaker packing in fourth position.
Newcomb eliminated Higgins in third place after his five-four offsuit dominated his opponent’s eight-three suited. The former and Hoang made a deal that earned each of them $55,394.
