Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship Action Continues Featured Image

The World Poker Tour is down in Florida this weekend, and the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship is the main event at this tournament. Four days of action were scheduled.

Monday will be day three of the tournament, and only 101 players entered with a chance to win. There is still a ton of jockeying that will take place throughout day three, but it’s Josh Reichard who currently leads the way.

Reichard had the chip lead heading into Day 3, and he is looking for his first-ever WPT title despite being one of the biggest chip leaders. That doesn’t mean Reichard will win the tournament, though, as other great players are in the mix.

Big eliminations occurred throughout the first two days of action, and great players were sent home. Since Day 3 is typically when players push the hardest for a spot at the final table, there will be some drama yet to unfold.

Everything will come to a stop when the final six players are revealed. Those players will battle it out in May.

A Look at Day 2

643 advanced past the first day of competition, and that could have led to a long day of action on Sunday. That wasn’t the case, though, as the field was cut down in half after the first few hours of action.

Some big names were in the mix as the second day of the tournament began, including Jeremy Becker and Landon Tice. Tice could stay in the action and advance to day three, but that wasn’t the case for Becker.

Elder Da Cruz entered Day 2 with the chip lead, but he saw that lead dwindle almost immediately. He was able to recover enough to advance to Day 3, but he is going to need some serious luck to move on.

Current Chip Leaders

Having the most chips after the event’s second day is not the overall goal, but it’s still something to keep in mind. Reichard had over 3.1 million chips heading into day three, giving him a sizeable lead.

Michael Rocca was next on the list with just under 3 million, and he is another player who is looking for a WPT title. The chip leaders tend to fall off after that third spot, and those players will start getting more desperate.

Matt Higgins and Jackob Datashvili are nearly neck-and-neck heading into day three, but they are around the 2.7 million mark. Denis Cyr fought hard to stay in the competition, but his chip count was around 2.3 million.

Day 3 and 4 will both start at 12:00 PM ET, and the leaderboard will likely shift before the final day of action.
