Players Cash Prize in Golden Nuggets grand poker series

The 2023 Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series took place between May 30 and July 3. The poker series comprised 89 tournaments with more than $3,000,000 in guaranteed prize money. Still, it attracted 24,402 players who received $5,587,560 in prize money.

Various poker variants in the recent series were appropriate for mixed-games enthusiasts. They included No-Limit Hold’em, Big O, Pot-Limit Omaha, Mixed Triple Draw Lowball, Dealer’s Choice, 8-Game Mix, H.O.R.S.E., and Limit 2-7 Lowball.

Some of the players who won different events in the series included Greg Raymer, Edward Holt, and Kyle Jeffrey. Raymer won $32,000 in Event No.77: $600 NLH Seniors Championship, Holt cashed $100,000 in Event No.32: Bar Poker Open Champion, and Jeffrey received $55,485 in Event No.41: $300 NLH Mystery Bounty.

The annual $1,100 Buy-In $1,000,000 Guaranteed PokerNews Cup culminated the Grand Poker Series. It constituted the renowned mystery bounty format that attracted 2,331 players who formed a $2,261,070 prize pool. They surpassed the initial guarantee and formed the largest pool in Golden Nugget’s history.

Johnny Kelly from the United Kingdom won the $176,540 first-place prize and trophy. Still, he won several mystery bounties. Here are highlights of the series’ last two tournaments.

Joni Liimatta Tops in Event No.89: $130 NLH 5K Guaranteed

The 2023 Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series rounded off on July 3, with three events taking place at once in Downtown Las Vegas. Joni Liimatta signed up for Event No.89: $200 NLH $5K Guaranteed.

He finished second with $1,849 in Event No.87: $200 NLH $5K GTD on that day after a three-way chop occurred. Liimatta had a deep run early in the day before Event No.89: $130 NLH $5K GTD kicked off. He beat Oliver Klar in the event’s last hand and won the $2,502 top prize.

The tournament took place on June 30 and featured 181 players who formed a $27,150 prize pool that only the leading 23 finalists shared. Maureen Bloechlinger defied the odds at the table as they bagged the $4,623 top prize. 

Even so, Bloechlinger’s victory wasn’t easy as she clashed with Devona Cole, Mary-Rose McCann, and Nancy Matson in a tough four-way battle. Players who cashed but missed the title included Nika Futterman, Sarah Casey, Sinem Melin, and Susie Isaacs.
